Buying a significant diamond from someone you have not met should feel safe. Here is exactly how it goes.
1. The conversation
We talk, by phone, secure video, or in person. You tell me what you are after: an occasion, a budget, a stone you saw once, or just a feeling. Most first conversations are about narrowing the field. No cost, no obligation, and no one will follow up to pressure you.
2. The search
I go source it, through the trade, cutters, and private channels. Depending on what you are after this takes anywhere from a few days to several months. Genuinely rare specifications take time, and I would rather tell you that at the start.
3. The presentation
I show you what I found, including options I do not recommend and why. Grading reports, my written assessment, video in natural and controlled light, and honest pricing context. If nothing is right, we keep looking. That is normal.
4. Seeing it in person
For significant acquisitions I will bring stones to you, anywhere in the country, or we will meet at a secure location. You should see a diamond before you buy it.
5. The piece
If you are setting the stone, we design around it: sketch, CAD, approval, then the bench. You see it at each stage.
6. Delivery
Fully insured and tracked, signature required, anywhere in the United States.
7. After
Cleaning, servicing, appraisal coordination and resizing for anything I have sold you. Lifetime trade-up on eligible colorless diamonds purchased from me, with no expiration and no reason required.
It applies to colorless and not to fancy color, and the reason is honest: colorless stones have a liquid, comparable market I can reliably trade against. Fancy color does not. Values move per stone rather than per grade, so no one can responsibly promise a future number on one, and I would rather tell you that than write a guarantee I cannot keep.
Questions people ask before the first call
Where are you based? The practice is based in Connecticut and works nationally. Appointments happen in person where you are, or by secure video. Most clients never come to us.
Can I send you a collection safely? Yes. Portfolio Management begins with insured white-glove transport, and the collection is secured and documented throughout.
What does a consultation cost? Nothing.
How long is the waitlist? Commonly four to six weeks for sourced-to-order stones, and longer for rare specifications. If you have a date, tell me early.
